Nydia’s Guitar Journey

A Strong Start in Guitar

Nydia Martinez began her guitar journey with me at a young age. We started from the basics, learning simple chords, and quickly progressed to fingerstyle techniques and advanced harmony while playing pop music. Within a year, we transitioned to classical guitar, which enriched her musical knowledge and technique, allowing us to explore works by composers like Bach, Carulli, and Sor. As her skills developed, we delved into more complex pieces by Leo Brouwer, Villalobos, Satie, and others.

Exploring Jazz and Beyond

Eventually, Nydia expressed an interest in jazz, leading us to a new program focused on scales, improvisation, and chord symbols. This opened up a new realm for her, enabling her to express her creativity more freely. Over the next few years, we blended various styles, including pop, classical, and jazz. I was thrilled when she shared that she had become the music director at her church, gaining valuable experience. Today, I am proud to say that, with the support of her family, she is pursuing a music career in college.

Studio Work and Upcoming Project

Nydia has participated in numerous recitals with me and has assisted in the recording studio with engineering and production tasks. I am excited to announce our upcoming project: we will be recording the beautiful piece “La Bikina” as a duet. This arrangement has been adapted for two guitars with a jazz rhythm track. Stay tuned for the premiere announcement of this video, which I will share on this website and social media!

Diana Green The Ukulele Princess

A Remarkable Musical Journey

Diana Green has become like family to us. As my ukulele student for several years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing her remarkable growth. From mastering basic chords and strumming Hawaiian rhythms to arranging an impressive repertoire that spans pop music and jazz standards for solo ukulele using classical techniques, her progress has been nothing short of inspiring.

From Student to Arranger

Diana has taken her musical journey into her own hands, creating unique arrangements of beloved songs, including Christmas carols, classics by John Denver, and timeless pieces like “Moon River” and “What a Wonderful World.” Currently, we are collaborating on an arrangement of “Hello Dolly,” consistently building upon her skills with each new piece. In fact, we are planning to publish a book titled Chord Melody Ukulele Solos.

Performing and Recording with Purpose

In addition to her arrangements, Diana has participated in numerous recitals, recordings, and video projects. I am thrilled to announce our upcoming video recording, featuring her arrangement of the beautiful song “Mary, Did You Know” for ukulele and guitar. Stay tuned for updates on the release date, which will be shared on our website and social media platforms.

A Young Musician’s Journey: Nathan’s Inspiring Path

Nathan’s Inspiring Path from First Chords to Family Jam Sessions

Nathan, a bright and motivated young student, has shown an extraordinary passion for music since the very first day he picked up a guitar. Although he only began his lessons a few months ago, his natural curiosity and determination have propelled him forward at a rapid pace. His love for the guitar is evident in every note he plays, and his ability to grasp new chords, rhythms, and techniques has been truly remarkable.

What sets Nathan’s story apart isn’t just his talent—it’s the deep and heartfelt bond he shares with his father, Nelson. The two have embarked on this musical adventure together, attending guitar lessons side by side. Their shared love for music has created a unique and enriching father-son experience, transforming what could have been a simple hobby into a meaningful family tradition.

Each lesson has become more than just a time to learn; it’s a space where memories are made, where laughter, learning, and love blend into harmonious moments. Their mutual support and encouragement create a positive, uplifting environment that accelerates Nathan’s growth as a young musician.

Now, after weeks of diligent practice and learning, Nathan is reaching his first major milestone: recording his very first performance video. He has chosen to play the D minor Blues, a soulful, expressive piece that not only showcases his improving technical skill but also reveals his emotional depth as a performer. Watching him play, it’s clear that music has become more than just a pastime—it’s a powerful outlet for creativity, expression, and connection.

Nathan’s story is an inspiring reminder of what’s possible when dedication meets passion—and when families come together to support each other’s growth. His journey encourages other young musicians to dream big, work hard, and find joy in every chord they strum.

Whether you’re a parent considering music lessons for your child or a young learner dreaming of your first solo, Nathan’s experience proves that it’s never too early—or too late—to start making music and memories.
